Project Perna, ECO Dive & Picnic at Sister's Islands 2nd Aug 2008 : PROJECT PERNA - 3RD ECO-DIVE - 2ND AUGUST 2008 With over fishing and pollution plus environmental factors like climate change taking their toll on the sea, ONE 15 is well aware of the need to respect and protect the marina waters and beyond. As a friend to the sea, ONE 15 has embarked on its own eco-initiative – Project Perna – which involves installing strings of Green mussels or Perna Viridis under the marina pontoon. These mussels functions as filter feeders and provide an additional source of food for fishes within the marina. The first eco-dive for Project Perna kicked off on 12 January 2008 and the second installation of mussel strings was held on 19 April 2008, in celebration of Global Earth Day. In our relentless effort to maintain the quality of water at the marina, Project Perna calls for members and volunteers to adopt and assist in the third installation of mussel strings under our pontoon.

Krabi 3rd - 6th November 2006 : My Birthday getaway.It was my first time flying Tiger Airways. No frills but flight attendant were very attentive. Otherwise Krabi is such a big disappointment. Bad timing?? It was Loy Kratong(water festival) and opening of the season. Viz was bad (full moon)and nothing much to see at the dive sites. Service and Spa at the Sheration was excellent. A pleasant weekend getaway.

IANTD Technical Diving 27th - 29th Oct 2006 : Not many pix on this trip cos doing exercises after exercises. TECHNICAL DIVING is unique. It is the most advanced form of scuba diving. Technical Diving is a discipline that utilises special methods, equipment, training, and skills to improve underwater safety and performance, enabling divers to explore a wide range of underwater environments and perform task beyond the scope recreational diving. Keep in mind that Technical Diving is not a prudent choice for all recreational divers. In fact, it is for the select few who are willing to make the sacrifices and meet the demands, dive by the highest codes of safety, understand and accept the risk an, above all, accept the responsibility for their own destiny!

RedSea - Ras Mohamed & Sharm El Sheik 26th -29th Dec 2006 : If I had to choose just one place in the world to dive, I'd choose Ras Mohamed. Ras Mohamed is a very thin strip of land at the southern tip of the Sinai peninsula at the Northern end of the Red Sea. In itself a peninsula, it is bordered to the west by the relatively shallow waters of the Gulf of Suez, and to the east by the deep waters of the Gulf of Aqaba. Here the water reaches depths of up to 2000 meters. The peninsula itself is made up of a fossil coral reef that emerged during the Quaternary Period about 75,000 years ago.The Peninsula is surrounded by high reef tables. The most prominent of these are Yolanda Reef at the extreme southern tip, and Shark Reef. Its nutrient rich waters attract hundreds of thousands of living species to its immensely diverse coral reef. Its luxuriant sea walls and terraces provide some of the most awesome sights anyone can lay eyes on. Few historical wrecks in the vicinity which are very well preserved and accessible. The truth is words can never do justice to this breathtaking spot. Few could dare argue the fact that Ras Mohamed is the best place to dive in the world. 2nd bests are quite close by as well. Sharm-El-Sheikh (about 30 KM away) and Dahab which we dived as well, Hurghada, Marsa Alam and Nuweiba and are all less than a couple of hours away at the most. So after checking out places as diverse as Maldives, Manado, Lembeh Straits, Similan Islands, Lombok, Anambas Island there is no shame in some boasting about the fact that Ras Mohamed tops them all. We did not take many underwater photos because I am new to the Olympus 8080. Being a camera idiot did not help. LOL! Hovever we have video taken during our dives.

Red Sea - Diving Safari Kabr El-Bent 31st Dec 2005 : Dahab are located between two famous national parks (Nabq south & Abu Galum north). Visiting those two parks diving is a must for divers. It's a real legend .. a full day Camel Safari trip with two dives at Kabr El –Bent and authentic Beduoin lunch. The ship of the desert are CAMELS. It take you there , where no jeeps can reach, guided by local bedouins from Dahab Bedouin Village. Terrific and amazingly different experience.

Red Sea - Thistlegorm Wreck 29th Dec 2005 : The Thistlegorm was British ship which sank in 1941. Packed with fresh supplies, it was on its way to relieve the 8th Army in its famous war against the Afrika Corps in the Western Desert. Unfortunately for this ship, German torpedoes found it before it reached its destination. Fortunately for the divers,on the other hand, it presents one of the best preserved wreck dives in the whole world. With its rifles, uniforms, ammo,desert terrain trucks, motorcycles, and even a tank, diving the site is like traveling back in time,destination: World War Two.
